Jill Chisholm is the founder and president of Sole Sisters Running Club, an all-women’s club and nonprofit organization established in 2013 and based in Wilmington, Mass. Sole Sisters, which already boasts 300 members, is a member of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and USA Track & Field (USATF). Jill is a member of the Board of Directors and oversees all aspects of the club’s operations.
Jill is an adult-onset runner who took up an exercise habit while caring for her three young boys. The 1996 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a B.S. in business administration and experienced human resources manager quickly discovered that she possessed a flair not only for competing, but for the organizational aspects of running and training as well. As a parent with obvious time-management concerns, she developed a focus on being something of an efficiency expert, and has an exquisite understanding of the unique needs of everyday runners with 9-to-5 jobs, children at home or both.
Jill, an RRCA-certified coach, has experience working with beginning runners, first-time marathoners with some running background, and experienced runners looking to make improvements. Never satisfied to rest on her laurels, in 2018 she expanded the scope of her coaching to include a middle-school club. Now that her children are older, Jill is eager to devote even more of her considerable energies to coaching.
As of August 2018, Jill had completed eight marathons and was preparing for her ninth marathon at Chicago this fall. She finished in the top 5 percent in the 45-to-49 age group at the 2018 Boston Marathon, setting a personal-best time with a 3:31:25 despite historically terrible weather conditions. In 2016, she placed third in her age group at the B.A.A Distance Medley. Her other personal bests include 1:35 for the half-marathon, 42:17 for 10K and 20:20 for 5K.

Coach Jill Chisholm
Jill is an accomplished runner, coach and mentor whose passion for the sport is contagious. As a couch to 5k runner at 40 years old, the thought of running longer than 5 minutes was so daunting to me. At first it was not enjoyable but Jill continued encouraging me. A coach who instantly believes in you before you believe in yourself is key to success. Running seemed so complicated, however Jill shared her vast knowledge of setting goals, following training plans, dealing with aches and pains, fueling and nutrition, importance of cross training and much more. She continually inspires me and because of her belief in me and my abilities I have accomplished so much as a runner. From 5ks, 10ks, half marathons to 4 marathons, she was my go to person and one of my biggest cheerleaders. I have found a passion for a sport that a decade ago wasn’t on my radar. I will continue on this journey for many more years and I have no doubt Jill will be there coaching and mentoring me towards my future running goals.
